Well, this week's Photo Quest works well for us! Especially since last Sunday, May 18th, we went to a wedding held at St. George's Orthodox Church in Pharr, Texas. Rosa, our 12 year old daughter, took photos for us (for the church). They were all taken on her new Canon EOS Rebel Digital Camera. I have to sort forms.
So... I have lots of time to think.

A perk: A pay raise.
A neutral: The job only lasts until August sometime.
A downside: I'm gonna have to take on more responsibilities. I do not get to have "down time."

That may drive me up a wall. I need 10 minute breaks every now and then. You email and read and clam/clear my brain.

Yesterday I finished putting together this quilt top.

The top is 84" x 84".  I am very pleased to have it done because it allowed me to meet three goals in one project:

1. Obviously, I got another UFO moved into the "ready to quilt" pile.  The twelve blocks around the perimeter of the quilt are the result of a block swap.  About a year ago one of my girlfriends went to Hawaii and brought back the koi fabric that you see in each of the blocks.  She gave 1 yard of fabric to each of 11 of her friends and we each made 12 blocks.  In September we got together and traded blocks.  This one is my contribution--

2.  When I realized that John was going on vacation and would be bringing me more fabric I decided that I needed to try to make a dent in the stack I have from his last trip.  One of the pieces had just the right colors to go with these fish blocks, so I used it for the fan blades in the center section of this quilt.  (Too bad the brilliant colors really don't show online.  You should see it in person!)

Holy crap. For a few weeks now I have been trying to get Sat and Sun off from work so I could head north to help my parents put their boats and docks in the lake. It's a tradition and my two sons and one daughter in law and hubby are all going north. I had to stay home and work.

So.....I was all mentally set......work Fri, work Sat, work Sun, go on a 16 mile bike trip with friends after work Sat.....

Just about an hour ago a girl called from work saying she could work for me Sat. and Sun!

My brain has gone into lockdown. I am really glad to be going up north...but, this whole thing has me stunned.

Do you ever get something into your head, and then you can't get rid of it? Very weird feeling. And I was really looking forward to going on that bike trip, too. Lol!

Befuzzled is the word I am feeling right now. I'll be happy in a few more hours...but, now my brain has a charley horse in it. Ouch! :D

A little electroshock therapy is what I need!!!

Edit. Ha, I realize now that part of the shock is that I had gotten over my disappointment about not being able to join the family and I was really looking forward to being completely alone for a few days! Dang! ;)

I am really touched.

First of all. Thank you for all the love and care you've sent me, neighbors. I feel loved. I wish I could feel the hugs, too. Hugs are all I need, as I told a friend today. I've nobody to hug me, even though Dad shared some of the sadness I feel.

Maybe I need to dry my eyes with a hairdryer. There's nothing I can do right now to stop myself from crying. Shit. I still can't believe they're gone that fast... I have no regret as I took care of them the best I could humanly and I know that they're in a better place now where there's no pain... Poor babies. They got a mommy, but they felt so orphaned. I can't blame Chantique, anyway. She's just a dog, and she's a very young dog mommy.

The first time I lost a dog by death was when I was a kid. I can't remember how old I was at that time. His name is Coca (his twin brother's Cola, my cousin's). I remember that I also cried at that time, but I can't remember how painful I felt. I also can't remember where I buried them. Things were easier anyway at that time because I was still very young and I had so much love a child needs. I still had my mother, and having a pet was just an "additional" love I shared.

It's harder now as I didn't see my dogs as my pets anymore, but my kids. Fuck that stupid thought, but I can't help not to love them that way.

I miss feeding my babies. I miss kissing them. I miss talking to them, even though they didn't understand me a word. I miss being sleepy for them. I miss making milk for them. I miss waiting for the day when they open their eyes so they can see me. I miss them so much. I miss us and our togetherness.

Anyway... a wife of a friend called me this afternoon right after I buried Cherry. She asked me if I knew where her husband is and if we had some business going on. I don't know where he is. The last time we met was more than a year ago when I needed his help to settle up some legal business that's related to my ungrateful uncle. Long story. I have never met the wife, we only talked once on the phone and today was the second time. She said he's been away from home for more than a month and there's no news since then. He also might have changed his cellphone number. Bastard.

At least I know where my babies are now. Their bodies are right in front of my bedroom. It would be nice if it's raining tonight, so they wouldn't get thirsty.

Kitty kept me up last night so I put her in the bathroom to sleep and then took some generic sleeping stuff.  I'm actually much more tired than I look. And, at work all by my lonesome playing on the internet more than actually working.

DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING! (Just thought I'd put that in there to go along with the much cheesy boxing theme from Tuesday night).

So we have a new Idol and his name is David.....DAVID COOK!

When the winner was announced there was screaming and jumping and running all around at my house done by yours truly! I was in total, blissful shock!

I've watched all the finales of American Idol except for season 1 and I've never seen an upset. After the judges practically handing the crown to Archuleta Tuesday night I was totally prepared for Cook to take second. It was so exciting and I'm so happy I'm still getting goose bumps right now just remembering that moment (plus I've seen it re-aired on FOX this morning about 20 times).

I truly think the right David won. Yes, Archuleta can sing like nobody's business but he doesn't hold a candle to Cooks versatility and marketability as an artist. Even so, I felt a little sorry for the kid because I really think he thought he had it in the bag.

Congrats to David Cook on being the new American Idol!

Now just a few words about the show last night:

I really enjoyed seeing the Top 12 back together and performing although Amanda Overmyer really seemed like she did not want to be there while David Hernandez milked it for everything he could. Being #11 and #12 they don't get to go on the tour so last night was the end of Idol for them.

I loved seeing all of the Idols in the audience, Blake and Bo (my two all-time favorite runner ups) were both in the audience!

Carrie's performance was great even though I had just seen it on the ACM awards Sunday night.

Jordin sang well but her dress was horrible.

Seal looked awesome and paired up well with Sayesha.

I was surprised to see Little David performing with One Republic. I figured his star pairing would be with Josh Groban or Barry Manilow or someone like that. It was a good performance.

I loved seeing Big David with ZZ Top. LOVED that funky chicken thing David did during the song!

Loved both of the Davids' Guitar Hero spots! (loved Big David's better though).

I'm glad they passed on those Idol awards for the horrible people this year. That one guy they did showcase it seemed like they were trying to turn him into the next William Hung! (although there will NEVER be another William Hung, I mean has there ever been a situation where someone could do an album called 'Hung for the Holidays'? I think not).

Bryan Adams with the guys and Donna Summer with the girls were both awesome!

George Michael looked like they dug him up out of the ground and stuck a pair of sunglasses on him. He sang well but I did not care for the song AT ALL! When a celebrity has gone so far off the left end that they start saying that God has turned his back on the world, I'm sorry I don't care to hear that kind of shat.

I guess that's about all. So another season of American Idol is over for us but a new kind of life has just begun for David Cook. Things for him are now going to get crazier than he ever imagined. Keep your eyes on the talk shows because he will be on every one of them over the next week or so.

I'll be keeping up with things on the internet and will be blogging as the tour starts and videos start popping up on You Tube. And of course I will be waiting impatiently for David's album to be released.

Again, Congrats to David Cook. You've been a joy to root for and vote for and I know we're going to hear great things from you!
