Movie: Sweeny Todd

"on-stage physicality"

Well, I suppose that's one way to put it.

I'm referring to the running around, slamming doors, jumping out windows, etc... not the smoochies.

I must just be a sicko or something cos I didn't think the blood was that bad!
I'd heard about the bloodiness from my son who warned me off. I might have to fast-forward some parts. Congrats on the acting gig. Remind Strix that it's just acting and you are an artist. The smochies might be less iirksome then. Well, you know what- if it were my husband up there, that probably wouldn't help much.....
You seem to be forgetting a significant element of your character... ;-)

"Remind Strix that it's just acting"

Yeah, I'm sure that's what Ken told Emma.

Oh, gawd, what have I started? Help. ; )

Am I? If so, it's probably for a reason.

Good and bloody! -Just the way I like it! Good! -I was just getting ready to see this, so now it's become even more exciting!!! Thanks!

Good luck with your new play! -Sounds like fun!

Yay, congrats, Pax!

ps As much blood as The Shining? LOL. I can't wait to see this, it's the only Depp movie I haven't seen. (another eyeroll...) ;)

As much blood as The Shining?

You know, I've never seen The Shining, so I can't say. It's pretty brutal, but I don't think you could do this story any other way.

I averted my eyes quite a bit, but it did help that the blood was very obviously fake and that Burton went for major camp value in its liberality. I'm extremely squeamish, but the pivotal death scene was so over-the-top that I was giggling before it was over.

I had that same sort of reaction to Shoot Em Up. That film was so gory but it's obvious cartoony-ness had me laughing almost from the beginning. I am pretty sure they did it on purpose. But my husband, who's used to me hiding my eyes, thought I'd gone mad. Thanks for telling me, I might rent ST now.

You'll have to wait a while. It's still in theaters.
I know, but if I don't rent it, I can't fast forward, just in case it gets to be too much...(Another eyeroll?)

...(Another eyeroll?)

See, now you're getting the hang of it!

I didn't mind the blood at all, but when the bodies tipped backward out of the chair and made that "crack" on the stone, I wanted to die. I have an irrational fear of falling backwards (only backwards!) and breaking my neck :-/

Alan Rickman's voice singing made me joygasm, however. Despite how creepy and pedophiley he was (even though I know that old men marrying young girls wasn't uncommon way back when ago).
Yes, that sickly splat the bodies made was more unnverving than the blood, I agree.
