Repost: Wine Review: Tin Roof Sauvignon Blanc, 2002

I made putanesca sauce over penne noodles, served with a garbanzo bean salad for supper. With it we had a 2002 Sauvignon Blanc from Tin Roof, a North Coast Californian winery. Christina liked it much more than I did, but it was all right. It was crisp and clean tasting, definitely good if you want something that won't overpower your meal. Generally, however, it wasn't anything to write home about. The most notable thing about it is that it had a screw-cap instead of a cork, which is actually becoming more common as good cork is harder and harder for wineries to come by. It is that screw-cap, though, that is the source of the winery's name, Tin Roof, and there is a humorously elaborate diagram on the back describing how to remove the cap.
