Route 66 Monument
Yesterday: Tepees and Puerco Pueblo
This continues the documentation of our recent trip to the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona.
And in case you thought the PFNP was all about geology and archaeology, here's a monument found in the park just north of the I-40 overpass:
Just beyond the disembodied grill is an antique, rusting car for your viewing pleasure.
I'm not sure why I found this sign on the inside frame of the car amusing. I just did. Maybe it's just the thought that someone would have to be told not to climb on this tetanus shot waiting to happen. Judging by the shoe prints we found on the wheel wells, I'm guessing the sign isn't enough for some people. On the other hand, it may be the fact that they referred to this rusted out frame as a "vehicle." It was a vehicle once. Now it is rustic art.
Tomorrow: Diné Restaurant (journey's end)
