Nerd alert.
Strix and I have been talking for some time about going through and trying to find all of the music that plays at the Bronze and at parties and just incidentally in the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We just like the music.
So, how do you find a list of all of the music ever featured in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the TV series? You type "Buffy music" in Google and go straight to it. Damn, I never thought it would be that easy.
So, Episode 1 is Welcome to the Hellmouth. The first song featured is as follows:
Plays as Buffy tries on different outfits.
The first episode features four songs by Sprung Monkey, all of which are available on iTunes, but then has a song called "Losing Ground" by Mindtribe and "David Aragon" by "No Heroes," presuming that's not the other way around. Does anyone know where I can get these?

Ooo ooo ooo ooo...

Black and orange stray cat sittin' on a fence,
Ain't got enough dough to pay the rent.
I'm flat broke, but I don't care,
I strut right by with my tail in the air!
Stray cat strut,
I'm a lady's cat,
I'm a feline cassanova,
Hey hey, that's that!
Get a shoe thrown at me by a mean old man.
Gettin' my dinner from a garbage can.
(Meow! Don't cross my path!)
I don't bother chasin' mice around.
I slink down the ally,
Lookin' for a fight,
Howlin' to the moon on a hot summer night!
Singin' the blues, while the lady cats cry,
"Wow, stray cat, you're a real gone guy!"
I wish I could be as carefree and wild,
But I got cat class, and I got cat style.

Sorry for all the QotD and Voxhunt posts lately. It's hard to come up with something to say everyday when all you do is work, rehearse, and hope it gets over freezing sometime soon.

I'm back home, but too tired to post properly, so instead I give you this. I have over 4600 songs in my iTunes list, so without doing some serious digging I couldn't tell you which one is the most embarassing. This one has to be up there, though. Before you ask, yes, I'm ashamed.
I ran across Richard Cheese among my Internet travels, and knew right away I would have to get more. He takes pop and rock songs, the lamer the better, and instantly makes them cool by doing covers of them with a full Big Band backing him up and singing them in Vegas Lounge-Singer style. This is the first song I heard from him:
For comparison, here's the original:
So once I'd heard Mr. Cheese's take on this song, I had to get more. Unfortunately, iTunes didn't have anything of his at the time (though now they do), so I put some of his CDs on my Amazon wishlist. Lo and behold, my mother, who is almost as demented as I am, bought it for me for Christmas.
Here's one of the songs:
Sorry, I don't know why the cover art won't show here. And again, for reference, the original:
There are 18 parodies on this CD, and they're all hilarious.
Enjoy.
What's your musical horoscope? (Put your player on shuffle and write down the first 10 songs that come up.)
Veruca Salt, "Born Entertainer", Punk Alternative (Neighborhood only because it's not family-friendly)
Ornette Coleman, "Endless," Clarinet Jazz. (Yes, I know, I'm musically all over the chart)
Covenant, "Edge of Dawn," Euro Power-Techno
Digital Bonzai, "Planet Hip," Instrumental Electronica
Bassic, "Dove," Instrumental Electronica (file couldn't be uploaded, for some reason)
Rachmaninov's Finale, Alla Breve, performed by David Helfgott on the piano
Prince, "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World," soft rock. (Yes, I'm ashamed.)
Chopin's Prelude #13, performed by Richard Morris
Vangelis, "So Long Ago, So Clear," Electronica with Vocals
Vangelis, "Spiral," Instrumental Electronica (again, couldn't upload)
Okay, considering the wide range of music in my collection, the fact that my random picks were, with the exception of #1, all very mellow, I'm going to assume this means I have calm, yet intellectually stimulating times ahead.
In other news, Mom and I took the Durango-Silverton railroad today up to Cascade Canyon, and I have a lot of pictures. I also have pics I still haven't posted from Telluride. I'll get to them as soon as I can. Peace.
Strix and I are in Telluride for the weekend. It's pretty cold here, being high altitude and all, but apparently not cold enough for the skiiers who are dying for snow. It's a beautiful little town, despite all of the trees being dead. A word of warning, though - there was a sign outside of town that said "Icy Conditions Ahead," and someone had written "PR" before "Icy." Fairly warned, as they say. I wish I could have gotten a picture of it, but I was driving.
We wandered around downtown for a little while and found that most of the restaurants here don't open until 5:30 for dinner. At 5:15, one of them deigned to let us sit down and look over the menu while they got the kitchen up and running. It was an Rustico Ristorante, an Italian restaurant with an impressive menu of gourmet country Italian cuisine. Strix had risotto with saffron and rice, and I had rigatoni alla montanara, which is tube pasta with an arrabiata sauce and Italian sausage. Both were excellent. The bill, unfortunately, reflected the excellence of the meal. I only wish I had been in a better mood to enjoy it.
In an aside, the restaurant's website is worth visiting for the music alone.
After dinner, we took a shuttle over to the High School, which has a surprisingly nice theater, to hear the San Juan Symphony play with the combined community choruses from Durango and Telluride. The concert was very well done, as always.
Tuesday evening, we went up to Durango and watched Gary Burton and Makoto Ozone in concert at Fort Lewis College. When I bought the tickets online, I didn't realize how close to the stage we would be. I could see right up Mr. Burton's nose.
Nostrils aside, the concert was amazing. They're jazz musicians that have been playing together for 24 years, Ozone being an incredibly talented pianist, and Burton being a vibraphone player. They did a few tango pieces, too, that were a lot of fun.
